Strengthening Cold Chain Knowledge and Sustainable Refrigeration Solutions

Bangkok, Thailand — 15 January 2026
Mayekawa (Thailand) Co., Ltd. proudly participated in the Thailand–Japan Cold Chain Logistics Workshop 2026, held at Hotel Nikko Bangkok, under the framework of the ASEAN–Japan Cold Chain Logistics Project. The workshop was jointly organized by the Ministry of Transportation (MoT), Thailand, and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT), Japan.

The event brought together government officials, logistics professionals, academic experts, and private-sector leaders from Thailand and Japan to exchange knowledge and promote the development of efficient, reliable, and environmentally responsible cold chain logistics across the ASEAN region.

Distinguished Guest Speaker from Mayekawa Thailand

As part of the workshop’s expert sessions, Mr. Yoothasri, representative of Mayekawa (Thailand) Co., Ltd., was honored to serve as one of the four guest speakers in Program 8, held from 15:50 to 17:50.

His presentation focused on two important and timely topics:

  1. Environmental Impact of HFC and HCFC Refrigerants
  2. Technical Comparison of HFC, NH₃, and NH₃ + CO₂ Refrigeration Systems

During his session, Mr. Yoothasri provided an in-depth analysis of how conventional refrigerants such as HFCs and HCFCs contribute significantly to global warming and environmental degradation. He emphasized the urgent need for industries to transition toward natural refrigerants, especially ammonia (NH₃) and CO₂-based systems, which offer superior energy efficiency and dramatically lower environmental impact.

He further compared system performance, safety considerations, lifecycle cost, energy consumption, and sustainability between HFC-based systems, NH₃ systems, and NH₃/CO₂ cascade systems, demonstrating that modern natural refrigerant solutions represent the most viable long-term strategy for cold chain infrastructure.

🧊 Supporting Sustainable Cold Chain Development

Throughout the workshop, participants explored key themes including:

  • The future of cold chain logistics in Thailand and ASEAN
  • International standards for cold chain logistics services
  • Japan’s government-backed infrastructure investments
  • Innovations in logistics equipment and cold chain technologies
  • The role of private sector collaboration in strengthening cold chain networks

Mayekawa Thailand’s participation and technical contribution reflect the company’s ongoing commitment to supporting sustainable development, reducing carbon emissions, and advancing refrigeration technology for the benefit of the cold chain industry.

🌱 Commitment to a Low-Carbon Future

By actively contributing technical expertise and practical solutions, Mayekawa (Thailand) continues to support the transformation of cold chain logistics toward a low-carbon, high-efficiency, and environmentally responsible future, in line with global sustainability goals and Thailand’s national development strategies.
