DDPT Visits Japan under the Project for the Development of Standards to Promote the Use of Industrial Heat Pumps in Thailand in Collaboration with Mayekawa Japan
During October 6–10, 2025, representatives from the Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning (DPT), led by Mr. Ittipong Tanmanee, Chief Inspector-General, together with DPT officials, visited Japan to participate in the Project for the Development of Standards to Promote the Use of Industrial Heat Pumps in Thailand.
The program was organized by the Association for Overseas Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Partnerships (AOTS) and supported by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Japan. The purpose of the visit was to enhance knowledge and understanding of the design, production, and installation of safe and energy-efficient refrigeration and heat pump systems using NH₃/CO₂ natural refrigerants, which can be installed in community areas without adverse effects on people or the environment.
The delegation attended lectures on NH₃/CO₂ refrigeration and heat pump systems and Japan’s industrial safety standards. They also visited several facilities, including:
- Office buildings utilizing NH₃/CO₂ systems for air-conditioning,
- Mayekawa Japan’s manufacturing plant to study the production process, and
- Cold storage and ice production facilities operating with NH₃/CO₂ refrigeration systems.
Mayekawa’s NH₃/CO₂ system employs natural refrigerants with a design that minimizes ammonia usage and confines it to the machine room. It also features automatic ammonia leak detection and neutralization systems to ensure the highest level of safety and environmental protection.
Mayekawa is committed to advancing safe, energy-efficient, and sustainable refrigeration and heat pump technologies to support Thailand’s industrial sector in achieving international safety and environmental standards, in line with the country’s transition toward a green and sustainable economy.
